Beer Steamed Shrimp

Beer Steamed Shrimp

Nothing beats shrimp as an appetizer. They are easy to make and always a crowd favorite!

  • 1 lb shrimp, deveined
  • 1 12 oz bottle beer (English bitter or a similar session beer is my personal favorite)
  • 1 Tbsp. crab boil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste

Directions:

In the base pot of a steamer, combine the beer and crab boil and bring to a simmer. Put the steamer basket in place.

Toss the shrimp with the salt, pepper and garlic powder. Place the shrimp in the steamer basket, close the lid and steam until the shrimp are firm and cooked through, 5 to 6 minutes. Stir the shrimp around the 3 minute mark to ensure even cooking. Nothing worse than raw shrimp (unless your doing sushi or something that is).

Remove and let cool till you can handle the shrimp. You can serve this with cocktail sauce or melted butter infused with garlic.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow for a twofer. Turkey stuffed with a spicy beer bread stuffing and my take on yams.
